Talk to Us
Documents, leaks, corroborating sources, and stories we should know about. Pick the channel that matches your level of risk.
If you have information that should be reported, the channels below are how to share it. Treat the identity of confidential sources as inviolable. We do not log IPs of incoming tips, we do not store metadata beyond what's needed to read your message, and we do not share what you send with anyone outside the editorial process.
Before you reach out, consider the device and network you're using. Tipping from a personal phone on a home network is generally fine for low-risk subjects. For sensitive disclosures involving your employer or a government agency, use a device that is not associated with you, on a network that is not associated with you.
Channels
- Encrypted Email tips@insanitywolf.com For most tips. Treated as confidential. If you want end-to-end encryption, send from a Proton Mail or Tutanota account; we will reply from the same.
- Signal Signal username pending publication Most secure for ongoing conversations. Disappearing messages enabled by default. Add the username, send a first message, and we will reply.
- Postal mail Insanity Wolf, P.O. Box pending For physical documents you cannot send digitally. We do not require a return address; please omit one if anonymity matters to you.
- Editor (non-confidential) editor@insanitywolf.com For story pitches, public records pointers, and editorial questions that do not require source protection.
What helps
Specifics. The names of agencies, vendors, programs, or individuals involved. Dates. Document numbers. URLs. If you have a primary record (a contract, an email, an internal memo, a procurement notice), share it; we will protect its provenance and verify its authenticity independently before using it.
What we will not do
We will not publish anonymous claims that cannot be corroborated by a record. We will not name a confidential source under any circumstance, including under court order, until every available legal protection is exhausted. We will not use AI-generated content as evidence. We will not pay for tips.
Records requests
If you are filing a public records request and want to share what you receive, we are interested. The methodology section of every issue lists the agencies we are already in dialogue with; if you are working a parallel angle, write to editor@insanitywolf.com and we may be able to combine efforts.
