Neither event is a surprise to anyone watching, and that is exactly why they are worth writing down: sellout speed is now the least informative fact about a custom drop. Everything sells out. The question that separates makers is what happens next.
Watch the aftermarket, not the drop. A knife that clears in two minutes and resells at ask was correctly priced hype. A knife that clears in two minutes and resells at 1.5x is a maker whose output is genuinely under-supplied — and both of today's are the second kind. Hawk mechanisms and Serge's one-man output share the only property that survives a hype cycle: they cannot be scaled without becoming something else.
This archive holds both names, and that is not a coincidence. The Deadlock is the reason the Hawk name clears a store in minutes — a blade locked in both directions with no play, which the whole OTF category still treats as optional.
